In Isaiah 46:4 it says, "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you."
That verse really spoke to me. Especially the part about him sustaining me. I am using Today's New International Version. I really like that word: sustain. So I looked it up, here are some of the definitions:
- to give support or relief to
- to supply with nourishment
- to keep up or prolong
- to support the weight of
- to bear up under, endure - In the New American Standard it uses the word bear instead of sustain.
So my prayer today is that God will sustain my family and yours. That He will support us and keep us going. No matter what happens with our jobs, the economy, our leaders, that He will sustain us.
I have also been thinking upon this verse found in 2 Timothy 1:7, "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound-mind." So coupled with my prayer of sustainability I also proclaim that I will not enter this next year worried and fearful about what is to come because God has not given me a spirit of fear but instead of a sound-mind. I pray that if you are the type to worry, as I am, about what is to come that you quote this scripture to yourself and be reminded that God is not the author of that fear and He will give you a sound-mind.
Happy New Year to everyone - May God sustain you and your family!
Side note: I've added a song (How He Loves) to my playlist from a CD I'm hooked on - We Cry Out by Jesus Culture (Kim Walker) If you don't have this album you need to get it.
Check out the website: http://www.jesusculturemusic.org/artist/KimWalker.html
Paulette has been singing the first three songs from this album at church and I couldn't get them out of my head so I asked her for the CD. I am in LOVE with My Romance and How He Loves. Listen to the end of How He Loves when Kim Walker starts preaching - I get goosebumps!

This is such a wonderful post Jenny. My heart was truly moved and reminded me of who we hold on to for everything. I simply love that c.d. I just recently purchased it and I find myself just sobbing as I listen. He truly loves His children.
